On 28 June 2023, our Associate Panagiotis A. Kyriakou presented the perspective of external counsel on third party funding in international arbitration, alongside Jörn Eschment and Clemens Heusch, on a panel moderated by Epaminontas Triantafilou.
The discussion took place as part of the 5th Athens International Arbitration Conference, organized by NOMIKI BIBLIOTHIKI and EODID Athens Mediation & Arbitration Organization.
The presentations and ensuing QnA highlighted that, while third party funding has rarely been used in Greece and the attitude of Greek courts toward it is hard to predict, there is much interest in it on the part of the industry. The panel served as a conversation starter on the topic and more events might soon be in the pipeline.
